Job Purpose
Working as part of a team to cover a continental shift pattern, the candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining a wide variety of mechanical/electrical plant and infrastructure in a data centre environment. The role will include supervision of visiting 3rd party contractors and issuing permits under a safe system of work.
Responsibilities
1. Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical problems in a commercial environment, including fault-finding, rewiring, and monitoring.
2. Ensure that routine PPMs are carried out on all mechanical and electrical plant in accordance with site task schedules and asset lists.
3. Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order at all times.
4. Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are used for all tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices at all times.
5. Work independently to find and present faults and concerns in mechanical and electrical systems without explicit direction.
6. Monitor and interpret the BMS to provide rapid response to issues in critical systems environments.
7. Provide exceptional customer service and address customer questions.
8. Participate actively in the continued development of the BMS.
9. Provide professional assessments and advice for management.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Experience working in a commercial mechanical and electrical installation environment.
* Knowledge of Building Management Systems.
* Knowledge of single and three-phase motors and control circuits.
* Knowledge of LV generator sets, including synchronisation panels.
* Knowledge of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
* Knowledge of commercial UPS and battery installations.
* Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
* Experience in fault finding on control panels and switchboards.
* Experience working within a high health and safety culture.
Person Specification
* At least 3 years of experience in a commercial environment.
* Must hold a British passport.
* Ability to obtain and maintain high-level security clearance.
* Recognised C&G Level 3 or equivalent qualification in electrical or mechanical theory.
* Willingness to attend training courses for development as required by management.
* Flexibility to provide shift cover for leave and unplanned absences.
* Valid clean driving license.
