Overview
Join AtkinsRéalis as an Associate Ecologist/Associate Director and help shape the future of our cities and environments. Our ecology team works on a wide range of projects, tackling habitat creation, research, development and major infrastructure schemes. With over 130 ecologists, including a CIEEM President and three Fellows, we drive nature‑positive outcomes across the UK.
Purpose
Working either individually or collaboratively, you will undertake ecological assessment, habitat design and innovative mitigation for development and nature recovery projects. You will act as the ecology lead on projects, deliver high‑quality ecological deliverables, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate within multi‑disciplinary teams and engage with stakeholders and clients.
* Undertake UKHab surveys, Preliminary Ecological Assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments and Biodiversity Net Gain assessments.
* Develop innovative and pragmatic approaches to ecological mitigation and compensation.
* Deliver clear, concise, high‑quality ecological deliverables in line with current guidance.
* Act as ecology lead on projects and manage ecology deliverables from bidding through to completion.
* Provide task/project management and support early project engagement.
Qualifications
* A passion for ecology and strong botanical skills (FISC level 3+ or equivalent).
* Good report writing skills and experience with protected species survey, mitigation and licensing.
* Experience in protected species survey, mitigation and licensing.
* Good working knowledge of the natural environment and wildlife legislation.
* Membership of CIEEM or equivalent.
* Full driving licence.
