Overview
We are recruiting an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our catering team at Gibraltar Barracks. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals within a professional Defence catering environment.
Details
* Pay: £16.40 per hour
* Hours: 40 hours per week
* Working Pattern: 5 days out of 7
* Shift Pattern: Early: 06:00 – 14:30; Late: 12:00 – 20:00 (a mixture of early and late shifts)
* Meal Service Times: Breakfast 06:30 – 08:00; Lunch 12:15 – 13:30; Evening Meal 17:30 – 18:30
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
* Prepare, cook, and serve high-quality meals across all services
* Supervise and support kitchen staff to ensure consistency and standards
* Maintain excellent food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness practices
* Assist with menu planning, stock control, ordering, and allergen management
* Ensure efficient and smooth service across all shift patterns
About You
* Previous experience essential in a similar role (Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie)
* Culinary qualifications desirable (City & Guilds / NVQ or equivalent)
* Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
* Passion for great food and delivering quality service
* Flexible and reliable, able to work early and late shifts
