Are you a recent Psychology graduate looking to apply your academic knowledge in a meaningful and hands-on role? A friendly and inclusive primary school in High Wycombe is seeking a proactive and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a therapeutic educational setting—perfect for those considering careers in educational psychology, mental health, or special educational needs (SEN).
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils facing emotional and behavioural challenges
Use psychological strategies to promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive social skills
Assist in delivering structured routines and tailored interventions
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to implement individual support plans
Help create a safe and nurturing environment where pupils feel supported and empowered
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
Holds a degree in Psychology or a related subject
Has a genuine interest in child development, mental health, and inclusive education?
Is empathetic, patient, and confident in building relationships with children who may display challenging behaviour
Is eager to learn and develop professionally, with access to training in safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and therapeutic techniques
Has experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)
