We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Second Chef to join our small, dedicated kitchen team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate chef who thrives in a collaborative environment and can also take the lead when required.
As our Second Chef, you'll work independently during mid-week shifts, managing the kitchen operations and ensuring high standards are maintained. On busier days, you'll work closely with the Head Chef, assisting with prep and service to ensure smooth, efficient operation during peak periods.
Key Responsibilities
* Independently manage the kitchen mid-week, overseeing prep, cooking, and service
* Support the Head Chef during busy periods with food preparation and cooking
* Maintain food safety and hygiene standards in line with regulations
* Assist in stock control, ordering, and kitchen organisation
* Work as part of a close-knit team to ensure a high-quality dining experience
Requirements
* Relevant chef certification (e.g. Food Hygiene Level 2 or higher, NVQ, etc.)
* Proven experience working in a professional kitchen environment
* Ability to work independently and take initiative
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Ability to stay calm and focused under pressure
* Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays as needed
