Are you a Health & Safety professional looking to make a genuine impact on a major civil engineering project? This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading contractor delivering high-profile infrastructure works in a unique island location.
The Opportunity
You’ll play a key role in driving safety, compliance, and best practice on a significant project currently in its site set-up phase, with main works commencing soon. The project will involve working with multiple subcontractors.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll oversee and develop junior Health & Safety Officers, bringing strong guidance and construction expertise—particularly from a civil engineering background.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage, and mentor on-site Health & Safety team members
Develop, implement, and maintain robust H&S systems and procedures
Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice
Deliver safety briefings, training, and toolbox talks
Work closely with project and site teams to embed a strong safety culture
About You
Proven experience in Health & Safety within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and guide junior staff
Experience working with civil engineering contractors is desirable
NEBOSH qualification
Solid understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation
Confident communicator with a proactive, hands-on approach
Support & Structure
