Overview
Designer role at Pringle of Scotland — Womenswear Wovens Designer, Full-Time, Kingston-Upon-Thames.
Purpose
We are looking for a Designer to join the team and be responsible for the design of Pringle of Scotland Womenswear Wovens.
Responsibilities
* Designing Womenswear Wovens within the Pringle design team.
* Prepare range and presentation boards for range reviews and buyer/product meetings. Create presentation materials for product range sign-off meetings. Work with the design team to keep up to date.
* Be prepared with proto samples, reference samples, fabric swatches, sketches and pantones during Design Meetings.
* Create flat technical sketches and packs for design development packs.
* Create design development Packs with all appropriate components.
* Manage and maintain all information through to final approval.
* Manage seasonal range sheets and maintain records to ensure accuracy for product range selection.
* Suggest colour direction for garments to balance the product and seasonal collections.
* Review and approve proto samples with the technical team.
Colour and Fabric Research & Development
* Develop and update seasonal coloured range boards, staying aware of market colour direction and internal brand colour stories.
* Research market to identify fabrics, yarns, wovens for the season; work with sourcing team and suppliers to source fabrics to meet pricing needs of wovens.
* Select fabrics, trims, materials and colours to fit mood board direction and create style plans.
* Develop standards to maintain and grow the internal material library.
Team Collaboration
* Work with technical team to ensure tech packs are accurate and complete; review with HOD & CD and provide feedback and direction when necessary.
* Adhere to the seasonal critical path and action calendars. Collaborate with internal and external suppliers, teams, buyers and technical dept.
* Update VRPs and CADs for the design team and own departments. Elevate calendar issues and provide resolutions to maintain calendar dates.
* Approve fabric samples, lab dips and other development materials; work with internal material management teams to provide feedback and clear direction to execute approvals effectively.
* Communicate with overseas offices / suppliers.
Skills & Experience
* Designer level experience for Premium Lifestyle fashion brands.
* Excellent Illustrator skills; proficiency in MAC, Excel, Adobe Photoshop / Adobe CC.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to tailor for relevant audiences.
* Ability to understand brand strategies and to work collaboratively.
* Strong design and conceptual skills; strong colour sense / print sense.
* Ability to quickly understand the target customer and design to a brief.
* Ability to analyse data/situations and draw relevant conclusions to positively impact the business in a complex environment.
* Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organisational skills.
* Ability to multi-task, problem solve, and think creatively in a fast-paced environment.
