Assistant Psychologist - Eating Disorders

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join the Gloucestershire Community Eating Disorders Service. Your role with involve working closely with all clinicians delivering both assessments and evidence based treatments and wider multi-disciplinary team, to support the provision of psychological therapies and assessments.

In this role you will be actively involved in delivering low-intensity psychological interventions, service audits, assessments and will take a lead in clinically related administration tasks. You will work under the close supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologists. You will also work independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified Clinical Psychologist .

Opportunities for clinical supervision, training and development are available as well as involvement in service development and promotion.


Main duties of the job

Promote the psychological health and well-being of service users who access the Eating Disorders Community Service.

Under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist, to provide psychological assessment, intervention, research, and evaluation services to individuals, or groups of service users

Under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist, to assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and / or research projects, teaching, and project work.

Job responsibilities

Clinical

Undertake protocol based psychological assessments of service users applying psychological, including neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with service users, family members and others involved in the service users care

Assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and / or management of a service users problems, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist within the hospital

Assist in the planning, coordination and running of staff support forums such as reflective practice, case discussion, formulation and CPD workshops

Work with other staff to assess service users and review their care in preparation of multi-disciplinary reviews

Attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings

Maintain appropriate records in electronic or hard copy in line with Trust policies and Professional guidelines. Includes workload data and using word processing skills to produce service user related reports


Person Specification


Evidence of undertaning Eating Disorders

* Reference to Eating Disorders on application and references within interview


Experience

* Previous mental health experience
* Sound understanding of psychological interventions for working with people with an Eating Disorder
