Role: Engineering Director Salary: £Competitive Location: LN5 7FD, Lincoln Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time How will you make a difference? Napier Turbochargers, a Wabtec Corporation business unit, is seeking a visionary Engineering Director to lead innovation, product development, and engineering excellence. You’ll oversee the full lifecycle of turbocharger systems—from design and testing to production and in-service support—ensuring alignment with business strategy and customer needs. What will your typical day look like? Lead and manage a multidisciplinary engineering team covering Design, Analysis Applications and Test. Define and execute the engineering strategy for industrial turbocharger products. Oversee design, development, and validation of turbocharging systems for industrial applications (e.g., marine, power generation, heavy-duty vehicles). Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, and Operations to align engineering output with market needs. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality systems (ISO, IACS, etc.). Drive continuous improvement, cost reduction, performance optimization AND technical innovation initiatives. Manage budgets, resource planning, and project timelines. Represent engineering in customer meetings, technical reviews, and industry forums. What do we want to know about you? Bachelor's or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. Experience in turbocharger / high speed rotating equipment design, development, or manufacturing. Proven leadership experience in an engineering management or director-level role. Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and rotating machinery. Familiarity with CAD/CAE tools (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks, GT-Power). Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar methodologies. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
