Key Duties and Responsibilities Oversee the Governance function including the delegation of duties to the Governance Support Officer Policies and Operational Document Ownership of the process to ensure appropriate review and ratification prior to the expiry date of the documents Supporting the Quality Governance Advisor to complete the clinical Audit process Ownership of the generic Quality Governance inbox with delegation to the team Prompt action of all correspondence Ensure alignment to NEMS SOPs and KPIs in responding to complaints, incidents and healthcare professional feedback Produce data reports as instructed by Head of Quality Governance & IG and the Quality Governance Advisor Innovative thinking to ensure we are performing to a consistently high standard Ensure the Governance database is up to date and captures relevant learning/actions taken The post holder will work under the direction of the Quality Governance Advisor. Working with and under the delegation of the Quality Governance Advisor the post holder will: Have responsibility for ensuring all complaints are drafted and presented to the Head of Quality Governance in a timely manner to ensure KPIs are not missed Look at innovative ways to improve our processes which in turn will improve response rates Provide advice and support to NEMS workforce on all issues relating to quality governance and patient safety Plan and undertake investigations into clinical incidents of varying nature and complexity in line with agreed investigation timeframes and protocols as set out in relevant NEMS policies and procedures or best practice Maintain confidentiality and discretion in carrying out all the duties of the post Use own initiative, sound judgment and experience to support appropriate decisions in accordance with the vision and values of NEMS Ensure that NEMS Policy and Procedure for the Reporting and management of incidents aligned to NEMS Patient Safety Incident Framework is implemented across NEMS, including compliance with Duty of Candour Ensure procedures are followed throughout NEMS that will enable our standards for incident management to be achieved and maintained Support the Quality Governance Advisor to ensure dissemination of lessons learned and remedial actions required are shared in a timely manner Assist the Quality Governance Advisor in delivering specific projects Maintain a high standard of record for each investigation and produce appropriate and timely reports in respect of investigations into clinical incidents Utilise Human Factors and Ergonomics focussed tools and techniques and to support investigators in how we apply them. Ensure all communication with patients, relatives and carers is open, honest and that investigations are transparent and independent. Support the Quality Governance Advisor when required to ensure NEMS responds to and captures all safety alerts. 1.
