Industrial Decarbonisation and Market Mechanisms Advisor - 31342
We have two permanent Industrial Decarbonisation and Market Mechanisms Advisor roles available within the Environment Agency. These positions are part of the Environment and Business Directorate (E&B), focusing on driving the decarbonisation of the economy.
The Advisor responsibilities include:
* Supporting the development of decarbonisation and energy efficiency regimes, with a focus on specific regimes.
* Contributing to the preparation, review, and publication of technical guidance.
* Advising on issues during the operation of regimes, including influencing government policy, networking with officials and stakeholders, and providing technical and legally sound advice.
* Monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) of emissions, energy, and materials related to greenhouse gases.
* Supporting the development of new and existing regulatory regimes, such as expanding UK ETS to maritime and developing heat network regulations.
The role requires responding swiftly to deadlines and working effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. The team leads UK policies to reduce industrial greenhouse gases and promotes a positive, inclusive culture.
Ideal candidates will:

* Have experience with data analysis and supporting policy changes.
This role suits a numerate science, engineering, or environmental sciences graduate (or equivalent experience) with an interest in policy implementation. Experience with MRV in regulation is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided.
