Overview
We are recruiting three part-time Phlebotomist posts (25 hours per week). The post will require some weekend and bank holiday working and may occasionally require working at other East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust sites. The service provides phlebotomy to hospital wards seven days a week and busy outpatient clinics on weekdays, as well as a Community Diagnostic Centre unit in Bexhill.
Responsibilities
* Collect blood samples from patients in accordance with venepuncture, infection control and laboratory policies and procedures, including within the hospital and the Phlebotomy Clinic.
* Complete a probationary period during which you will undertake a competency assessment supported by the team leader.
* Complete and pass an in-house venepuncture competency programme.
* Be polite and diplomatic when communicating with medical staff and patients and provide guidance on the process of obtaining samples within Phlebotomy.
* Greet patients, take telephone bookings and enter details on the department's computer when a receptionist is not available.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Phlebotomy experience and competence with the Vacuette system; training will be provided to candidates with the right qualities to join the busy team.
* Flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays and to travel to other ESHT sites as required.
