Information Analyst
The post holder will work as part of the cardiothoracic information data team in a job share role, sharing responsibilities for reviewing and validating MINAP and BCIS data for cardiology for national audit returns for submission to NICOR (National Institute of Cardiovascular Outcomes Research). The post holder will work with various staff groups within the organisation, primarily interacting with clinical staff, to ensure that the data collected is accurate, complete and of the highest possible quality to support patient care, data analysis and clinical research.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will communicate with a range of professionals both internally and externally to the Trust and will develop and maintain good working relationships with others and ensure information is effectively sourced from various areas and accurately transferred between sources. As well as coordinating dataflows, the postholder will build subject matter expertise about the information being collected.
With strong analytic skills, the post holder will act as a key stakeholder in undertaking critical analysis and will provide the necessary reports and statistics required to support monthly clinical meetings and promulgate key findings to senior management and clinical staff across the organisation and wider network. The post holder should understand and be able to explain performance targets, that may be highly complex and specialist in their nature and communicate these in an understandable way.

Job responsibilities
* Review, interpret and validate clinical information recorded by clinicians to ensure that it is accurate and complete.
* Communicate with and encourage clinicians to provide accurate and complete data.
* Be confident in challenging clinicians if information and documentation is not accurate.
* Undertake regular quality assurance of data collected for clinical audit purposes, focusing on accuracy and completeness.
* Ensure that data collection and audit submissions are within agreed timescales and deadlines are met.
* Interpret and query any clinical audit data requests received and provide responses to the requesters within agreed timescales adhering to Caldicott guidelines.
* Provide statistical information and reports to clinicians and senior management on a regular basis to facilitate quality improvement.
* Retain a record of all audit requests in the Ad Hoc requests log ensuring that all requests to the data team are clearly defined, recorded and managed.
* Act as a point of contact and knowledge on the appropriate clinical system and provide training to staff on data entry and data field definition when required.
* Maintain a working knowledge of relevant procedures, practices and terminology to ensure clinical systems hold the most accurate clinical data.
* Ensure that patient records obtained for audit purposes are stored and maintained in a secure and confidential manner and that confidentiality and security of information is maintained in line with hospital policy, GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Qualifications & Education
* Relevant Degree Qualification or equivalent relevant experience
* Diploma in Nursing or Health related topic
* Registered General Nurse
Knowledge and Experience
* Knowledge of identifying processes to improve efficiency of data processing
* Awareness of current data protection legislation
* Significant experience of both patient and process data collection
* Experience or knowledge of electronic records
* Experience in analysing large data sets
* Specialist knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Excel and Access (databases)
* Ability to analyse problems in real time and understand user requirements
* Experience of working in a healthcare environment
* PC Support/knowledge of IT networks
* Knowledge of medical terms and procedures
* Microsoft SQL Server and Query
* Experience in implementing or maintaining paperless working environments
Skills & Abilities
* Experience in producing high quality reports, manipulating data, performing data analysis and producing reports in tabular, graphical and other formats
