A bit about the role Residential Support workers play a crucial role in establishing a secure and nurturing setting for the growth and development of the children and young people in our care. We are specifically seeking a Residential Support Worker with leadership experience or seniority in a similar capacity. Your focus will be prioritising our children's well-being through person centred care, guidance and advocacy to ensure their safety, health and fulfilment of their potential. A Residential Support Worker will work within a team that provides person centred care and tailored support to each child meeting their individual needs in accordance with care plan you will also ensure that policies in the central standards or quality and safety or achieved. You may be asked to sleep in on occasions and you will earn an extra £50 for each one. About the service Acorn Way is an exciting new residential care home providing accommodation and support for children and young people between the age of 5-17 years of both physical and learning disabilities. The new home will provide warm caring uncomfortable environment where our young people will feel safe and free to gain a sense of their own self. Supported in developing skills and achieve maximum quality of life. We are looking for qualified support workers to join our growing team, however we are open to applications from candidates who are eager to work towards obtaining this qualification on our career pathway. How you’ll help create brighter futures In the role of Residential Support Worker, you'll be: Providing essential support to children and young people within our residential home, creating a safe and nurturing environment to foster their independence Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc. Lead shifts with the primary aim of the provision of a high-quality service Supervise and guide staff as required, in accordance with Action for Children policies and procedures Lead by example with the application of Action for Children's policy procedures and professional practice standards and in line with registration requirements. Ideally you will have: Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided. Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families Knowledge of completing and updating & developing tailored care plans Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role The ability to create a safe and fun environment for both staff and children in the home and in the community Whether this is a career change for you or the next step in your journey, we'd love to hear from you.
