Role Description The Press Officer job is a full-time, on-site role based in London, responsible for managing day-to-day media engagement and supporting the party’s public communications. This role involves drafting and distributing press releases, responding promptly to media inquiries, and preparing briefing materials and key messages for spokespersons. The Press Officer will coordinate and support press conferences, media events, and interviews, ensuring accurate and timely information is provided to journalists. They will build and maintain relationships with key media contacts, monitor news coverage, and provide regular media reports and insights to internal stakeholders. The role also includes working closely with colleagues on message alignment across channels and helping to identify opportunities to promote party policies and positions.
Qualifications
* Strong experience in Press Relations and Media Relations, with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with journalists and outlets.
* Proven ability to draft clear, accurate Press Releases and prepare content for Press Conferences and media briefings.
* Excellent Communication skills, including concise written communication and confident verbal interaction in high-pressure environments.
* Experience working in politics, journalism, public affairs, or a similarly fast-paced communications environment is highly desirable.
* Ability to work on-site in London, manage multiple deadlines, and respond quickly to breaking news and media requests.
* Strong news awareness, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
* Relevant degree or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, public relations, politics, or a related field.
