What You’ll Do as a Payroll Specialist - ROI at Primark

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our Republic of Ireland payroll team. This role, based in our Reading office, involves supporting the operational delivery of payrolls. You’ll need to work confidently under tight deadlines and be an outstanding team player. This position is ideal for someone looking to advance their career with proven experience.


Duties & Responsibilities

* Support the payroll team in producing the company’s payrolls.
* Monitor work against deadlines and alert the payroll manager to any risks.
* Ensure company and team procedures and policies are followed to deliver accurate payrolls.
* Provide cover for other specialists and manager tasks related to payroll sign-off and high-priority tasks.
* Demonstrate high-quality outputs with attention to detail.
* Prepare and upload system files.
* Assist with software fixes and improvements, liaising with suppliers and payroll specialists.
* Maintain knowledge of processes and Primark rules, including year-end, pension rules, statutory returns, and reporting.
* Stay updated on legislative changes and support implementation.
* Help allocate resources to ensure timely completion of period and year-end tasks, including pension and statutory returns.
* Establish and maintain positive working relationships across teams.
* Work cross-functionally as required.
* Identify and implement improvements and efficiencies.
* Review and sign complex correspondence and draft replies to external bodies.
* Be aware of team, company, and customer priorities.
* Lead by example, maintaining high accuracy in workload.
* Process payments and meet deadlines.
* Perform payroll/finance reconciliations.
* Perform other duties as required.


What You’ll Bring

* 5+ years payroll experience (or 2+ years in payroll with at least 3 years in other industries).
* A detail-oriented individual.
* Ability to lead by example, with detailed knowledge of payroll processes.
* Knowledge of tax regulations, statutory and pension returns, and year-end procedures.
* Experience working under deadlines and pressure.
* Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
* Ability to complete tasks independently while keeping the team informed.
