Job Title: Technical Manager
Reporting to: Operations Director
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Office-based with occasional client site visits (Hybrid working possible)
Salary: £50,000 + Benefits package - Electric company car, laptop, mobile, pension, BUPA, life insurance.
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Technical Manager to lead the implementation and oversight of technical compliance across our operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all projects meet regulatory standards and client specifications through robust systems, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Oversight & Compliance
* Interpret and analyse client specifications to ensure alignment with internal standards and third-party certifications.
* Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop detailed technical schedules and documentation.
* Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to stay informed on product innovations and industry best practices.
* Lead quality assurance programmes, including inspections and resolution of technical issues.
2. Team Development & Leadership
* Identify training needs and support the professional development of site operatives and technical staff.
* Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture across teams.
* Conduct regular performance reviews and one-to-one meetings with direct reports.
* Promote continuous learning and development within the department.
3. Quality Assurance & Standards
* Provide technical support and guidance to operational teams.
* Organise and deliver internal training sessions focused on quality standards and new technologies.
* Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
* Stay current with industry developments through seminars, publications, and networking.
4. Communication & Collaboration
* Represent the company’s technical standards in client meetings and presentations.
* Participate in internal and external meetings to support project delivery and strategic planning.
* Identify personal development opportunities and pursue relevant training.
* Undertake additional duties as required to support business needs.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
* Degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
* Proven experience in a mid-senior technical or managerial role within the construction or engineering sector.
* Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and quality assurance frameworks.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Desirable:
* Experience working with technical specifications and certification processes.
* Familiarity with ISO standards and implementation.
