Job Summary The Electronics Engineer is within our Electronics development team, which works concurrently on a variety of exciting, cutting-edge projects. We build products for professional use with an expectation of reliability and robustness. Candidates should be familiar with key electronic principles and concepts and with exposure to CAD tools and designing circuits. Working within a small team, the Electronics Engineer should be able to build a solid understanding of the project they are working on and take ownership of the electronics under appropriate supervision. The successful candidate will be proactive and self-motivated about continuing to push their understanding of design, test and manufacturing practices through books, videos, mentoring or relevant training courses. This role presents an opportunity to develop design skills through exposure to increasingly challenging design requirements, and through review of existing designs, mentoring and discussion. Within this role, the Engineer will become familiar with the whole design cycle process from research through schematic to PCB manufacture and able to support Manufacturing in any test or board failure issues. Key Responsibilities Product design – taking a product from concept through to manufacturing, taking on schematic design, PCB layout, test and measurement. Understanding of product lifecycle Design decision-making: critique and propose alternative solutions Support Manufacturing and other teams to resolve/debug board failure issues Support other Electronics team members with investigative / support work Practical skills including the ability to mock up test solutions Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience Electronics Engineering undergraduate degree, 2:1 or above, or relevant professional experience Experience with EDA tools such as OrCAD / Cadstar / Altium etc Practical skill such as soldering and using other key bench equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal generators etc. Evidence of having conducted some previous schematic design work Problem-solving attitude Attention to detail and a careful and precise mindset Positive attitude to expanding own learning and knowledge Able to demonstrate a genuine interest and passion in electronics specifically, and engineering in general Strong communication skills in both verbal and written English Desirable Extras 1-3 years of industry experience in a similar role designing and developing circuit boards Experience taking products from concept through to PCB through to manufacturing Skills such as design for manufacture and design for test Direct PCB design and layout experience Excellent time management, including the ability to prioritise conflicting tasks appropriately Previous experience of taking a product to manufacture Keen interest in the products we make and the markets in which we operate
