JOBTITLE: Health and Safety Manager DEPARTMENT: Compliance REPORTINGTO:Chief Financial Officer SALARYSCALE:Competitive HOURSOF WORK:37hoursperweek MondayFriday9:00amto5:00pm(withhourunpaidlunch break) or as per departmental working agreement. Job Purpose The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of colleagues, the security of facilities, and the integrity of operations across the entire airport platform. This role ensures regulatory compliance with UK Health and Safety (HSE) legislation, leads the Safety Management System (SMS), and manages preventative and emergency response provisions. The jobholder will play a critical role in fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the organisation in line with company vision and values. They will also work closely and collaboratively with other individuals and key departments within the organization (Chief Operating Officer, Aerodrome Safety Manager, Chief Technical Officer, Engineering Manager, Rescue and Firefighting Service) to promote high standards in terms of Health and Safety within the organisation. Key Responsibilities Safety Management System (SMS) Leadership: Develop, implement, maintain, and champion the airport's Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring full compliance with national and international regulatory standards, including those set by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) (e.g., CAP documents) and relevant ISO standards (e.g., ISO 45001). Conduct continual regulatory monitoring and ensure all airport operations and infrastructure adhere to current legal and normative requirements concerning health, safety protection. Manage SMS documentation (procedures, programmes, internal control plans, etc.), ensuring it is up-to-date and effectively disseminated. Risk Assessment and Prevention: Identify, assess, and prioritise occupational (health, safety) risks specific to the airport environment. Oversee the development and regular review of comprehensive Risk Assessments, implementing associated preventative measures. Investigate and analyse workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, conducting root cause analysis (RCA) and proposing corrective and preventative action plans for staff, public and third-party events. Identify and address factors contributing to occupational ill-health and fatigue. Develop and implement prevention strategies and procedures in close collaboration with the Electrical and Mechanical Department of the airport to: identify potential hazards related to electrical and mechanical systems and establishing robust protocols to ensure safe operations conduct risk assessments, design preventive maintenance plans, and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations develop staff training programs and response procedures to minimize risks and ensure timely actions in case of incidents. Emergency and Crisis Management: In liaison with the airports RFFS, develop, update, and test Airport Emergency Plans (AEPs) in accordance with UK CAA requirements (e.g., CAP 168 Chapter 9) and the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 Actively participate in the management of emergency situations and incidents. Audits, Inspections, and Monitoring: Establish a H&S audit programme for third parties operating on Company premises to identify and control risks and encourage the development of sound H&S practices. Conduct regular internal and external audits to ensure compliance with HSE standards and procedures. Establish and maintain an internal control process for regulatory compliance. To develop and maintain the management of risk within the Company by managing, co-ordinating, and auditing the Company Risk Register, Risk Assessments and COSHH Assessment Programme. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the H&S department and manage associated budgets. Lead the investigation procedure into significant accidents/incidents (RIDDOR) that may arise by liaising with internal and external bodies to provide the necessary documents and reports. Identify actions which will avoid reoccurrence. Assist the Companys insurers as well as their advisors in their investigations into public liability claims and employers liability claims. Preparation and maintenance of annual budget for Health, Safety including the quarterly forecast as required throughout the financial year. Training and Awareness: Developa Company Health & Safety Training Programme and actively deliver or arrange specialist Health & Safety training courses for employees where appropriate. Organise and deliver awareness campaigns, and communication initiatives for all employees on best practice HSE. Promote a strong safety and prevention culture across the airport. Coordination and External Relations: Coordinate safety initiatives with various airport operational departments and external stakeholders (airlines, contractors, regulatory bodies such as the UK CAA and Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI)). Serve as the primary point of contact for competent authorities on all matters related to airport safety. Collaborate with VINCI Group and develop VINCI Group culture. General Uphold the companys information security policies and procedures, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of company data.
