Project Engineer (Energy Engineer)

A leading developer and operator of low-carbon heat networks is seeking an Energy Engineer to support the delivery and operation of district energy projects across London. With a mission to decarbonise cities and communities, this role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge infrastructure that plays a direct role in the energy transition.
The Role
You’ll take responsibility for managing energy infrastructure upgrades and new heat network developments, overseeing projects from planning through to commissioning. The position combines technical engineering expertise with strong project and site management, acting as the bridge between design, delivery, and operation.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the successful planning, execution, and site management of energy infrastructure projects.
* Oversee day-to-day activity on sites, coordinating contractors and ensuring works are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
* Manage project delivery end-to-end, including scheduling, supplier coordination, and cost control.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, health & safety requirements, and quality benchmarks.
* Support the integration of new assets into live heat networks, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance.
* Act as a central point of contact for stakeholders, providing clear communication and regular progress updates.
Ideal Background
* Experience delivering technical or engineering projects in energy, utilities, building services, or infrastructure.
* Hands-on knowledge of energy systems such as CHP, heating plant, or control/monitoring platforms.
* Proven site management skills, with the ability to coordinate contractors and drive safe, efficient delivery.
* Strong organisational ability and problem-solving mindset.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Willingness to travel for site supervision and project coordination.
