Job Summary
An enthusiastic and compassionate Occupational Therapist is required to join the Pan Dorset Learning Disabilities Intensive Support Team (IST) as a Band 5 role. The position focuses on providing specialist assessment and intervention to adults with learning disabilities and young people in transition, supporting them to remain in local communities and live fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake holistic, person‑centred occupational therapy assessments.
* Develop and implement strengths‑based intervention plans.
* Support individuals to build skills in self‑care, daily living, leisure and social participation.
* Work within a trauma‑informed and Positive Behaviour Support framework.
* Deliver interventions in home and community settings.
* Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment, formulation, and care planning.
* Support families, carers, and provider services to meet individuals’ needs.
* Contribute to safe and sustainable community placements.
* Support transition planning and discharge pathways.
Eligibility and Requirements
* HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
* Committed to person‑centred and inclusive practice.
* Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Organised, reflective and motivated to learn.
* Confident communicating with individuals, families and professionals.
* Able to travel across Dorset as required.
* Full, valid UK driving licence and willingness to use own vehicle for Trust business.
* Experience with people with learning disabilities through employment, student placements or lived experience considered advantageous.
* Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required; the Trust will cover the cost.
* Applicants requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible.
