A well-established and expanding primary school in the London Borough of Merton is seeking a passionate and experienced SEND Teacher to join their dedicated team from September.
The Role
As the class teacher within the base, you will lead a small class of up to five pupils, all with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a range of associated communication and learning needs. The class follows a sensory-based and highly structured curriculum, and you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, individualised learning experiences that support both academic progress and personal development.
You will work closely with a skilled and supportive team of teaching assistants, alongside other SEND professionals within the school. There is regular input from external specialists across Merton, and the school actively encourages ongoing training and professional development.
This is a full-time, long-term SEND Teacher position, with the opportunity to become a permanent role for the right candidate.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Proven experience working with children with SEND, particularly those with Autism
* A strong understanding of approaches such as Attention Autism, TEACCH, Makaton, and/or PECS
* A nurturing, flexible, and child-centred teaching approach
* The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
