An expanding freight forwarding company is on the lookout for a skilled and experienced Customs Clearance Clerk to support their growing operations team. This is a full-time, office-based role covering all aspects of customs clearance, including imports, exports, and transit declarations, with a particular focus on delivering exceptional service and ensuring full compliance with UK customs procedures. About the role: Working alongside a collaborative and knowledgeable team, you’ll be responsible for managing customs entries and declarations from start to finish across a range of transport modes. This is a key position for someone who enjoys variety, accuracy, and working in a professional logistics setting. Folkestone £35,000 (dependent on experience) Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:30 Day-to-day duties include: Completing full-cycle import and export entries, including T1 transit documentation Using CNS, Destin8, and Multifreight to submit entries and track clearance progress Reviewing shipping and commercial documentation for accuracy and compliance Applying correct tariff codes and managing duty calculations Handling client queries, post-clearance amendments, and HMRC correspondence Monitoring deadlines and keeping clients updated throughout the clearance process Supporting internal teams on best practices and regulation updates What we’re looking for: At least 2 years of customs clearance experience, ideally with both import and export exposure Competence using key customs systems, including CNS and Destin8 Experience with customs regimes such as Home Use, Customs Warehousing, Temporary Admission, and Transit Excellent communication and client-facing skills Good knowledge of tariff classification and UK Border Force regulations Strong time management and the ability to handle high volumes of work accurately A collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving This is an exciting opportunity to join a business that values its people, offers long-term career development, and plays a vital role in international trade logistics.
