We have an exciting opportunity for part time Non‑Medical Prescriber to join our Primary Care / Mental Health team at HMP Kirkham, a category D Prison located in Kirkham, Preston.

We are looking for a Non‑Medical Prescriber who has also experience prescribing in Substance Misuse, and ideally holds RGCP1 and 2 or is willing to work towards them.

The prison has its own Healthcare Department where you will be based and the team consists of ten, working with Primary Care Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and GPs.

HMP Kirkham has a capacity of 700 males.

Hours:

The role is full‑time 18.75 hours per week with various shifts covering:

* Monday – Friday – flexible in days
* 18.75 hours per week
* 9 am – 5 pm


Salary:

This position is part‑time; you’ll receive an annual salary between £51,643 – £58,012, depending on experience, which will be pro‑rota.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.


What you'll be doing

As a Non Medical Prescriber your responsibilities will vary. You will:

* Undertake clinical nursing practice at an advanced level using expert knowledge and clinical skills to deliver care to patients
* Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence
* Provide treatment as required, including prescribing medication, within your sphere of competence
* Carry out comprehensive assessments of patients looked after
* Provide advice/support in relation to crisis situations, conditions and treatment plans, based on medical and treatment history
* Carry out a clinical review with the patient and update care plans accordingly

Qualifications required

* Current active registration NMC Adult / Mental Health or HCPC
* Non‑medical prescribing qualification
* RGCP1 and RGCP2 trained or willing to work towards them
* Understanding and knowledge of policy developments related to the delivery of primary care services, including Clinical Governance and the Quality & Outcomes Framework
* Understanding of evidence‑based practice
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
