Job Description:
Job purpose
We are seeking a motivated and charismatic individual to join our admissions team on a full-time basis. This role will primarily focus on student recruitment, particularly engaging with prospective students from countries in Africa and the Middle East. The ideal candidate will have sales experience, be willing to travel to African and Middle Eastern countries regularly, and be fluent in Arabic, with fluency in other languages being desirable.
Beyond recruitment, this role involves maintaining strong relationships with the students you have recruited, as well as their families, once they join Ashbourne. The successful candidate will help ensure a consistent cohort of 25 students from Africa and the Middle East at the college while fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.
About Ashbourne
Established over 40 years ago, Ashbourne has become one of the top private colleges for A levels in the UK, distinguished by exam results, individual attention, and facilities. It aims to be the best college overall for A levels in the UK.
Ethos and culture
At Ashbourne, there are no uniforms, no assemblies, no school dinners, and informal relations between teachers and students. This is encouraged by the lack of formality and the small class sizes that promote engagement.
Unusually for a private college, Ashbourne is selective; it reserves the right to deny progression from year 12 to year 13 if academic standards are not met. All students are expected to work hard and aim high, with a '100%' homework submission rule and a shared ethos of excellence.
About the College
Sixth form college – Almost all students are at A level, seeking a more mature approach to education with greater freedom and responsibility. The informal relations with teachers differ from traditional schools.
Academic performance – Consistently ranked first or second among private colleges in London and in the top 5% of schools and colleges by value-added metrics.
Individual attention – Supported by small classes and personal tutors who monitor academic progress and liaise with students and parents.
Welfare – Supportive environment with strict policies against bad behavior, bullying, or abuse.
Location – Near Kensington Gardens, within easy reach of London's cultural opportunities.
Ashbourne community – Diverse, with 70% British and up to 50 nationalities, offering a wide range of subjects and extracurricular activities.
Academic opportunities – Diverse subjects from arts and performing arts to sciences and humanities.
Extra-curricular opportunities – Including Model United Nations, Astrophysics, and arts and performance activities.
Intensive courses – Offers 2-year A level courses, one-year intensive courses, and 18-month courses starting in January for GCSE and A level students.
Scholarships – Generous programs supporting outstanding students, especially in music and drama.
Happiness – Supportive community where students can find their niche free from cliques and snobbery.
