SENIOR PLANNER / BUYER

Based in the beautiful Scottish Borders (circa 1 hour south of Edinburgh), Grw Talent’s client is a well-established global manufacturer of pre-connectorised, blown fibre cable, and ducted network solutions and is at the forefront of the fibre-to-the-X industry. They have two sites in Scotland and form part of an international business stretching into Europe, the USA and Middle-East. The group is undergoing extensive growth and change right now. To help facilitate this, they now need to recruit a Senior Planner/Buyer.
Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the Senior Planner / Buyer joins the business at a great time. The Scottish businesses are about to have new products and capacity transferred in from other sites. From a product level they are beginning to offer more technical multi-level assembled products. There has been extensive investment in new technology/enterprise level systems to build a more collegiate international group structure. At local level, there is a small relatively inexperienced team of Buyers and Material Planners. The Senior Planner Buyer will play a key role supporting their development, coaching and mentoring colleagues and bringing their experience to the team. Key responsibilities will include:
Support the development and daily leadership of the material demand planning and procurement function and its people.
Support site Supply Chain Manager(s) and Global Category Managers with local supplier development and management.
Look and push for improved procurement and demand planning terms and conditions and help the business generate real savings from professional procurement and planning practices.
Take a key part in the role out of SAP (Hana4) into the Scottish business.
Support and generate the right data and reports from SAP / ERP to help the business run smoother.
Work closely with site MD and their leadership team to ensure the timely supply and release of all key material onto the shopfloor.
At site level support and work with colleagues in Warehousing and Logistics to ensure delivery of raw material and collection of finished products. We are looking for a proven/highly experienced Materials / Production Planner / Buyer. Ideally, you are educated to degree calibre and/or hold relevant professional CIPS qualifications. Candidates will have worked in a volume driven production / manufacturing environment and ideally will have first hand experience using SAP ERP (or other relevant ERP systems) platforms to manage the procurement and planning functions.
You are highly experienced in sourcing, negotiation and purchase order management, part set-up, including MRP parameters and master data control, optimisation of stock and setting policies and the management of suppliers and driving on-time delivery. This business has multiple SKUs so someone used to short lead time or multi-product planning and procurement would be a good fit. Any experience of buying granulated plastics, extrusions, injection moulds and components would be advantageous.
Give the role is based across two sites in the Scottish Borders, the client will need presence on site. This is a site-based role so you will need to be present at least 4 days a week.
