Overview
MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina. The Registered Nurse role provides patient/family centered care using the nursing process and focusing on the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
Responsibilities
* Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
* Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.
* Provide patient/family centered care using the nursing process and focusing on the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs. This includes assessment, development of nursing diagnoses, outcome identification, planning, implementation of interventions, coordination of care, health teaching and promotion, and evaluation of goals and interventions consistent with the policies of MUSC.
* Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through ensuring patient privacy and responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behavior.
* Demonstrates the ability to function in a professional setting through active participation in a professional practice model, shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review and professional development, promoting leadership and clinical excellence, effective team skills, autonomous practice, and accountability for actions and critical thinking.
* Coordinates the delivery of patient care services through the application of care management principles and prioritizes clinical actions to improve patient outcomes.
Minimum Education and Experience
* Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
* Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
* Some positions require a valid driver's license.
* Requires certification in Basic Life Support prior to the completion of general orientation.

Physical Requirements
* Ability to perform job functions while standing and sitting, walking, and climbing stairs.
* Ability to work from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, and in various positions (kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting).
* Ability to perform gross and fine motor movements, reach overhead, and perform repetitive motions.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted; lift/lower objects from floor to 36 inches; reach from 36" to overhead; exert up to 50 lbs of force.
* Ability to maintain 20/40 vision (corrected) and good hearing.
* Ability to deal with stressful situations and to work rotating shifts, overtime as required, and in a latex-safe environment.
* Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions and olfactory sensory function as applicable.
