The Role To support our growing operations, we are recruiting for a Fleet Maintenance Controller to join our team at Widnes. This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll provide technical and administrative support to ensure our fleet remains safe, compliant, and cost-effective. You’ll work closely with operations, workshops, suppliers, and clients, playing a key role in scheduling, monitoring, and reporting on all aspects of fleet maintenance and driver compliance. Good communication, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach are essential — as you’ll be the link between internal teams, external suppliers, and our valued customers. Key Responsibilities Compliance: Ensure all fleet and driver compliance standards are met, maintaining accurate records. Fleet Maintenance: Schedule and monitor MOTs, ADR certifications, tank tests, road tax, and defect management to minimise downtime and costs. Fleet Administration: Upload and maintain compliance documentation, ensuring a robust electronic audit trail. Customer Service: Act as a key contact for operations, workshops, and suppliers, providing updates and resolving queries. Freeway System: Create purchase orders, process approvals, and challenge costs using the Freeway maintenance software. Operations Support: Collaborate with operations teams to ensure maintenance work is scheduled and delivered on time. About You We’re looking for someone who can combine technical know-how with excellent organisational and communication skills. Essential: Experience in a maintenance support role (fleet or workshop environment). Good understanding of vehicle compliance and legislation. Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Office. Excellent people and communication skills. Desirable: Experience within transport, logistics, or haulage. Familiarity with fleet management software such as Freeway or similar.
