Information and Data Support Officer

Job overview

We are looking to appoint an individual to support the collection and provision of accurate, timely and high quality information for internal and external reporting requirements.

The successful candidate will proactively review data inputted into the data management systems and work closely with R&I staff to verify the data, raising queries and resolving issues as required. To work with the R&I data team to provide informatics expertise to R&I.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the development and maintenance of robust and accurate information management and reporting systems for R&I. To ensure, where appropriate, that systems are linked together and link with additional Trust reporting systems as necessary.

The post holder will support the research teams to produce reports reflecting the Trust’s research status for both internal performance management and external reporting to the NIHR, DH and other external stakeholders as required.

The post holder will support data analysis within R&I to assess project and programme performance.

Applicants should be qualified to at least diploma level or equivalent experience.

The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of and competencies with Microsoft Office software and experience of working with databases.

We are looking for candidates with good organisation and communication skills; who can work well both in a team and using their own initiative and with excellent attention to detail.

The vacancy is based at the Oxford Road Campus with remote work.

Person specification


Skills and Abilities

* Comprehensive IT skills including MS Word, Excel, Access (and other database packages), PowerPoint, Publisher, Internet and email
* Excellent organisation, administration, and project management skills
* Ability to collect and analyse data to produce reports
* Good people skills; ability to work within a multidisciplinary environment
* Ability to use your own initiative


Training and Experience

* Experience of working with databases
* Experience of developing and maintaining comprehensive and systematic systems for collecting and processing information
* Experience of dealing with complicated datasets requiring analysis and interpretation
* Experience of working to tight deadlines
* Experience of working with networks and external organisations, e.g. universities


Knowledge

* Excellent knowledge of and competencies with Microsoft Office software
* Knowledge of NHS research and/or IT management systems
* Knowledge of relational database design
* Knowledge of data integrity methods and techniques


Qualifications

* Educated to diploma level or equivalent experience of information handling and analysis gained in a work environment
* Further qualifications in Health Informatics or related area
