Tweed Foundation Guardians of the Tweed

An exciting opportunity has arisen with the Tweed Foundation, based in The Scottish Borders, South Scotland. We are seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to join our team.

The Tweed Foundation is a Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee and works closely with the River Tweed Commission (RTC), the statutory body responsible for the Tweed District, to promote the development of fish stocks in the Tweed River System.

The Tweed Foundation works to advance, for public benefit, environmental protection and improvement by conserving and enhancing all species of freshwater fish and their environments in the waters of the Tweed & Eye Fisheries District. It does this through the study and monitoring of aquatic ecosystems, including their fauna, flora and economic or social activity, leading to the protection, conservation, rehabilitation and improvement of aquatic environments that fish depend upon. It also seeks to advance the development of the conservation and management of fish and fishery resources, water quality, environmental conservation, education and participation in sporting or recreational activities in connection with these resources.

The Tweed Foundation is seeking to employ an experienced and passionate team member to help us deliver the Guardians of the Tweed project for the Tweed District.

This is a 3-year funded post supported by the Fallago Environmental fund, where the main role will be the development of the Guardians of the Tweed initiative to :-

* Support recruitment and onboarding of new Guardians volunteers
* Deliver or assist with volunteer inductions, briefings, and informal training
* Coordinate and lead volunteer activity days and practical conservation tasks
* Act as a key point of contact for volunteers, ensuring they are supported, engaged, and informed
* Maintain volunteer records and help gather feedback for ongoing improvement
* Develop regular management reports for stakeholders
* Develop funding bids to support our charitable work

Subject to funding support, the post will be extended to continue the Guardians programme ensuring that the aims of the project are delivered to the required standard and within budget. Developing effective liaison, communication and funding partnership and stakeholders, land managers, agencies and private sector advisors will be an important part of the role.

Duties may occasionally extend to cover other aspects of the on-going catchment work of the Tweed Foundation.

For further details regarding the role of Volunteer Coordinator please contact Tweed Foundation’s Jamie Stewart on jstewart@tweedfoundation.org.uk

Applications, including a covering letter and Curriculum Vitae, should be submitted to the Director, no later than the 23rd July 2025.

Interviews will be held on the 28th and 29th July, either via video conference call or in person at our Drygrange offices.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in building a growing volunteer network that makes a real difference to the health and future of the River Tweed and its tributaries.
