Avondale Foods is a leading food manufacturing company of Fresh and Chilled products supplying leading retail businesses including Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, Dunnes, Morrisons, Aldi & Lidl throughout the UK & Ireland. The Hygiene Specialist Trainer is a hands-on, floor-based role responsible for training and developing hygiene operatives to ensure all cleaning tasks are completed correctly, safely, and in line with Cleaning Instruction Cards (CICs), internal policies, food safety standards, customer requirements, and audit expectations. The role owns and maintains all CICs, training sign-off documents, and competency records, ensuring they are accurate, up to date, and fully compliant with best practice. Key Responsibilities Deliver practical, floor-based training to hygiene operatives to ensure compliance with CICs Take full ownership of CICs, ensuring they remain current, accurate and relevant to operational requirements. Maintain and control sign-off sheets and training competency records for all personnel. Update and amend CICs and documentation when changes occur in process, equipment, chemical use, allergen handling or audit requirement. Conduct training assessments and competency checks to confirm correct execution and understanding when completing hygiene tasks. Provide refresher training following non-conformance, audit findings, quality issues or performance gaps. Support hygiene operations by ensuring operatives follow correct chemical usage, safe dismantling procedures and hygiene methods. Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying training needs, efficiencies, safety improvements and procedural enhancement. Support internal and external audits through demonstration of training control, CIC maintenance and compliance documentation. Ensure records remain audit-ready, traceable and maintained to the highest standard. Work collaboratively with hygiene management, production and quality teams to ensure aligned standards and expectations. Adhere to Company general policies, i.e., Food Safety, Health Safety, Absence, etc. Contribute to the development of a culture of Integrity, collaboration do the right thing approach in all interactions. Ensure Food Safety compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements to remain audit-ready at all times. Essential Criteria Evidence of practical hygiene knowledge, including safe chemical use, equipment dismantling and cleaning processes. Proven experience in training, coaching and communicating effectively with operatives at all levels of skill. Competent use of computer systems for updating CICs, records, schedules or document control Experience in maintaining audit-ready training records. Experience working to deadlines and adapting training to operational priority. Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned documents and training tasks. Previous experience in food manufacturing environment Desirable Criteria Level 3 HACCP or above Level 4 Food Safety qualification Previous experience in hygiene or food manufacturing training. Knowledge of BRCGS requirements and audit preparedness. Train-the-Trainer or similar formal training qualification.
