Radiology Department Assistant
Location: Birmingham, The Harborne Hospital
Hours: Full Time Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week covering shifts between 08:00 and 20:00
Contract Type: Permanent

We’re looking for a Radiology Department Assistant (RDA) to join our Radiology Team at The Harborne Hospital.
The Harborne Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare UK is a brand new £100million, purpose built 50 bed, multi-speciality private hospital that opened in Birmingham in 2024. Located on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham campus, the hospital has a deep clinical infrastructure, equipment and facilities and expert, experienced teams to deliver full clinical pathways across a mix of specialties and sub-specialties at all levels of complexity including Cardiology, Cancer, Complex surgery and Orthopaedics. The Harborne Hospital is the 4th NHS partnership within this network, partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust.
As a Radiology Department Assistant, you will assist with day to day roles; supporting procedures, meeting and greeting patients, completing necessary documentation and help maintain the smooth running of the department.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Organise ultrasound workload including charging patients, chaperoning patients when required and dealing with all necessary paperwork.
2. Assist the radiographers in preparing patients for all imaging procedures as necessary.
3. Help with moving patients within the department as necessary.
4. Assist with setting up for procedures as required.
5. Assist in maintaining the tidiness and cleanliness of the department.
6. Help with the maintenance of stock levels in all rooms e.g. linen etc and consumables etc.
7. Collect and escort in-patients to and from the department.
8. Rotate between departments/areas/modalities as required.
9. Respond appropriately to accidents or untoward incidents/occurrences that arise within the unit and provide accurate documentation.
10. To be conversant with all local policies and procedures and to act accordingly.
11. Ensure the safety of patients and staff and ensure that all incidents are reported to the Manager.
12. Ensure that all equipment is used safely and effectively. Experience of working with members of the public is essential.
13. Manage all CD uploads/burns
14. Image transfer to and from other organizations and to patients via IEP/CIMAR
15. Assist with imaging bookings and issuing of imaging reports
16. Ensure GDPR and data protection policy is followed for all imports / exports of images
17. Assist with all relevant departmental administration processes.

19. Radiology Department experience is preferred
20. Care certificate or equivalent – Essential
