The Senior Chemical Process Engineer role sits at the heart of this mission—supporting the delivery of technical solutions, leading engineering projects, and helping shape the sustainable systems of tomorrow. About the Role EnerTherm Engineering is seeking an experienced and self-driven Senior Chemical Process Engineer to lead the development and execution of cutting-edge thermal and energy systems across diverse industries, including food processing, chemicals, and waste management. This role requires a high level of autonomy, technical capability, and strong communication. The engineer will lead complex projects from concept to commissioning, often working directly with clients, suppliers, and internal teams. The role will involve 40–60% on-site work, both in the UK and internationally. Candidates must hold a valid driving license and be eligible for global travel. Key Responsibilities Lead full lifecycle engineering projects: from concept design to commissioning Conduct detailed energy audits (e.g., pinch analysis) and process integration Develop and simulate systems using AspenOne, Excel, Python, and other modelling tools Create and manage PFDs and P&IDs, and size/design thermal equipment (e.g., heat exchangers) Coordinate suppliers, clients, and internal teams across all project phases Supervise and conduct PDI, FAT, SFAT, and on-site installation and commissioning Write detailed technical reports and provide regular project updates to the Managing Director Travel to site for client meetings, factory assessments, and commissioning support (UK & Abroad) Required Skills & Experience 5–10 years experience in chemical/process/thermal engineering Deep understanding of heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, and process control Strong skills in AspenOne, Python/Excel, and AutoCAD/SolidWorks Competent in developing and interpreting PFDs, P&IDs, and technical documentation Excellent interpersonal skills and capable of working independently Valid UK/International driving license Able and willing to travel internationally for site visits and project execution Proactive learner with strong logical thinking and project ownership Desirable (but not essential) Background in food or specialty chemicals Experience in procurement and budget handling What We Offer Lead innovative energy and thermal engineering projects with tangible industry impact Entrepreneurial and collaborative environment with real autonomy Ongoing training and development support (e.g., IPAF, CAD, H&S certifications) Exposure to a wide variety of sectors and large-scale industrial installations Structured 6-monthly review process with performance-based bonus opportunities
