Role Description:
We offer an exceptional opportunity for a bright Junior Paralegal to join our growing debt recovery team, serving clients such as insolvency practitioners, banks, corporates, and private individuals. You will be supported by senior staff and work on a variety of cases, delivering high-quality service aimed at efficient resolutions.
Your responsibilities include handling civil litigation claims, managing court proceedings, preparing legal documents, and supporting case management from initiation to enforcement. You will also coordinate with fee earners and ensure compliance with deadlines and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform pre-litigation debt recovery tasks, including drafting Letters of Claim and liaising with debtors.
2. Prepare and issue claims via SDT or MCOL platforms.
3. Draft legal documents such as Particulars of Claim, Replies to Defence, and Court Orders.
4. Negotiate and arrange mediations.
5. Manage judgments and enforcement actions.
6. Assist with witness statements and case preparation for hearings.
7. Monitor court directions and deadlines.
8. Draft statutory demands, bankruptcy, and winding-up petitions.
9. Support debt recovery processes from start to finish.
10. Provide case updates to clients and handle inquiries.
11. Organize new claims and manage case files.
12. Maintain accurate records and court diary.
13. Collaborate with fee earners and provide legal support as needed.
14. Ensure proper record-keeping and compliance with firm procedures.
15. Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
* Experience in legal support or fee earning role, preferably in litigation or debt recovery.
* Knowledge of SDT and MCOL platforms and civil court procedures.
* Strong writing, organizational, and communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple files and meet deadlines.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
* Legal qualification (LLB, LPC, or equivalent) is advantageous but not mandatory.
* Previous experience in a law firm focusing on civil or debt recovery work.
