Urology Registrar

To assist in maintaining and developing the Urology service locally while working as part of a team. The post holder will provide inpatient ward care, cover clinics, assist in theatre, take part in audit activities and be involved in teaching and training of Urology resident doctors. He/she will also advise and treat patients presenting with urological problems and participate in the out‑of‑hours on‑call urology rota.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join the existing establishment in delivering a broad range of urological services at PAHT, supporting practitioners in primary care and performing specific activities such as TRUS biopsy, flexible and rigid cystoscopy, and supporting inpatient theatre lists. The post holder will provide ward cover, attend the on‑call rota and will be based at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow with outpatient sessions at St Margaret’s Hospital, Epping.
* Provide advice and treatment to a variety of patients presenting with urological problems
* Participate in the on‑call urology rota
* Undertake regular ward rounds
* Take part in audit activities
* Be involved in teaching and training the Urology resident doctors
* Participation in clinical audit and research for the department is encouraged
* Rotate between Urology Consultant theatre lists to further operating skills

* MBBS or equivalent
* Full registration and licence to practice (or applied for)
* Evidence of ST‑1/ST‑2 competencies in surgical specialties
Experience
* Previous NHS experience
