About the RoleWe are working with a well-established regional contractor to appoint an intermediate-level Quantity Surveyor or someone looking to take the next step in their career.This opportunity will see you working across a range of new build and refurbishment projects, typically valued between £1m and £10m, supporting both preconstruction and delivery teams.The role offers excellent exposure across the full project lifecycle, making it ideal for someone keen to develop theirmercial skills within a supportive and growing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with managing project budgets, cost reporting, and forecastsSupport the procurement of subcontract packagesPrepare and review valuations, variations, and final accountsMonitor project costs and ensure financial targets are achievedProcurement & PackagesManage subcontractor packages from tender through to final accountSupport negotiations and ensure best value is achieved across the supply chainWork closely with site teams to track progress and manage costsPreconstruction SupportAssist with tender processes, including pricing and cost planningSupport preparation of estimates and subcontract enquiriesContribute to buildability and value engineering discussionsStakeholder EngagementWork closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and seniormercial staffBuild strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliersMaintain clearmunication across all project stakeholdersWhat We’re Looking ForExperience as an Assistant or Intermediate Quantity Surveyor within a main contractorExposure to new build and refurbishment projectsStrong understanding of subcontractor packages and cost managementEagerness to learn and progress within amercial roleGoodmunication and organisational skillsSome knowledge of JCT contracts preferredRelevant qualification (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying or similarSalary & Benefits£40,000 – £57,000 (DOE)Car allowancePension schemeStrong progression opportunitiesExposure to a variety of project types and sectorsSupportive team environment and structured developmentHow to ApplyIf you’d like to discuss this opportunity in confidence, please apply below or contact James Mitchell at Hays Southampton. #4801032 - James Mitchell
