Description
We are looking for a driven and detail-focused Proprietary Buyer to secure the timely, cost-effective, and high-quality supply of critical proprietary components for our Formula One cars. Working closely with Engineering,Manufacturing, Production Control and Car Build, you will ensure parts are delivered to the right quality, at the right cost, and on time every time.
Key Responsibilities
Procure and expedite proprietary components, balancing Quality, Cost, and Lead Time.
Monitor demand and safety stocks, ensuring suitable stock at all times of key proprietary components.
Ensure ERP/MRP systems are maintained with accurate part data, pricing, lead times, and commitments, enabling effective planning and decision-making across the business.
Act as a support interface to Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Programme teams. Provide clear, timely communication on supplier performance, delivery risks, and cost impacts.
Support proactive risk management through early supplier engagement, scenario planning, and contingency activities to protect IP, build schedules, and race performance.
Support the use of suppliers that meet all performance, specification, and compliance standards as defined by AMF1.
Be involved in procurement projects from concept and development through to race delivery, often under compressed timelines and evolving technical requirements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Proven experience in procurement within Formula One or a fast-paced, high-performance engineering environment.
Strong understanding of BOM structures, manufacturing processes, and technical drawings.
Confident user of MRP/ERP systems, with the ability to manage and resolve system-based issues independently.
Demonstrated ability to take full ownership of a commodity or component portfolio, proactively managing demand, supply risk, cost control, and delivery performance end-to-end.
Highly organised with the ability to manage a high volume of parts, suppliers, and priorities without compromising accuracy or attention to detail.
Flexible and adaptable approach and comfortable working with changing technical requirements, evolving schedules, and compressed lead times.
Resilient under pressure, with a track record of delivering on time in demanding, deadline-driven environments.
Strong commercial awareness with the confidence to challenge, negotiate, and drive accountability with suppliers.
Excellent communicator, able to build strong cross-functional relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
