An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a Learning Disability Events Coordinator to join our Learning Disability Service on a part-time basis (one day per week for two years).

Our service provides specialist health support for adults with learning disabilities whose needs cannot be met through mainstream services. We work closely with individuals, their families, carers, and partners across health and social care to deliver high-quality, person-centred support.

We are seeking a friendly, professional, and highly organised individual with excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning and coordinating events that bring together people with learning disabilities, their families, and professionals from across our community.

You'll be joining a highly supportive, welcoming, and dedicated team who are passionate about improving the lives of people with learning disabilities.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will work under the supervision of the Engagement Lead and Service Manager for Learning Disability Services to plan, promote and deliver inclusive events aimed at reducing health inequalities and supporting access to support and services.

The post holder will work closely with adults with a learning disability, families, carers, community groups, and partner organisations to ensure events are accessible, meaningful, and tailored to local needs.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Good level of secondary education to GCSE level.
* Certificate/Foundation degree/ diploma/NVQ4 or equivalent experiential learning.
* Degree in relevant field
* Diploma/NVQ 5 plus significant and/or relevant work experience.
* Evidence of continuous professional development


Knowledge

* Basic knowledge of the engagement and involvement.
* Effective communication and presentation skills
* Ability to relate to a wide range of people
* An understanding of relevant policy and their application to the relevant service area
* Computer literate and ability to input data.
* Ability to multitask in a busy environment.
* High level of self-awareness and ability to critically appraise own performance
* An understanding of the NHS structure and the client groups it serves
* Ability to work autonomously and use judgement and initiative in decision making


Experience

* Experience working with people with learning disabilities and their families
* Experience of planning events
* Experience of co-producing with people with learning disabilities and their families.
* Experience of planning and facilitating participation activities/teaching sessions
* Working alongside people from different and diverse backgrounds, experiences and needs
* Understanding of health inequalities and barriers sometimes experienced people with learning disabilities and their families


Skills

* Evidence of effective inter-personal communication skills. oAble to plan and prioritise own time and meet tight deadlines. oDemonstrates ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. oExcellent organisational skills. oAbility to work effectively as part of a team. oAbility to demonstrate ethical values and attitudes within a culture of equality and diversity. oAbility to manage competing priorities and deadlines. oAbility to communicate well, both in writing and verbally. oAbility to be tactful and diplomatic in communications. oAbility to communicate Trust policy and processes to diverse groups. oUnderstanding of the impact of stigma and discrimination.
