The role
As a Driver you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You0ll have a key role working within a small but highly effective Transport Services team, where the highest standards will be expected. You0ll be required to drive and operate a wide range of general and specialist vehicles, from Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV, which include cars, minibuses and coaches), to both rigid and articulated Large Goods Vehicles (LGV). You0ll be responsible for making sure RAF personnel, equipment and vehicles get to the right place, at the right time!
* Transporting recruits and station personnel between units and the local area using a range of vehicles
* Carrying out detailed monthly checks of the vehicle fleet reporting all defects to the Transport Control Office
* Prepping the vehicle fleet for graduation days
* Uniform will be provided and must be worn as a matter of company policy
This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Shawbury, near Shropshire. You'll work an average of 37 hours a week on a shift basis, however you'll need to be flexible as there may be changes to the roster from time to time, to meet customer needs.
Essential Experience Of The Driver
* Experience of driving a variety of vehicles
* Sound knowledge of Driver's Hours Regulations in accordance with EU Directive 561/2006
* Computer Literate; basic IT skills
* Good diplomacy skills required
* Ability to engage effectively with internal and external personnel at all levels, including senior stakeholders.
* Must enjoy driving to various parts of the UK
Qualifications For The Driver
* CAT B and provisional CAT D Licences
* Passenger Carrying Vehicles (PCV) DVLA Licence Category D
* Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) DVLA Licence Category C
* Digital Tachograph Card
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance for this role.
