Are you on the lookout for a new flexible job with satisfaction you’d struggle to find anywhere else?
You’re in luck as our amazing team in Pollokshaws, Glasgow is looking for new female * colleagues to join them as relief Support Practitioners.
Role and the individuals you’ll support
As a relief colleague, you will play an important part in ensuring we continue to provide the best care and support possible during times of staff training, holidays and absence.
You will be joining a small, dedicated team of Support Practitioners providing a 24‑hour housing support service to two fun‑loving and chatty ladies in Pollokshaws. The people we support have learning disabilities and other complex health and support needs; one of the ladies requires a wheelchair to get around.
Due to the needs of this service, we require a full UK manual driving licence and at least one year of driving experience.
About You
We’re more interested in what you as a person will bring to our team, so it’s not essential that you already have experience in care or a qualification. We will pay you for your training and will even fund your SVQ (SCQF level 6/7) and yearly SSSC registration fees.
To be a great Support Practitioner, you will be:
* naturally empathetic with a warm, friendly personality
* a good listener with great communication skills
* able to build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with different people
* a problem‑solver who can think on your feet and use your initiative
* upbeat, energetic with a positive, can‑do attitude
* reliable and flexible to meet the needs of the people we support
Shift Patterns
Our team provides support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Your rota will include a combination of longer and shorter day shifts and sleepovers; for example, 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, 8:00 am to 8:30 pm and 8:00 am to 8:00 am sleepover.
Sleepover hours are not included in your contracted hours and you’ll receive an additional sleepover payment.
Additional Requirements
Success in the role requires joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare as required for SSSC registration. You will need to register with the SSSC within three months of starting employment.
If you have spent more than 12 months abroad (excluding France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania or Spain) in the last 10 years while over the age of 18, you will be asked to provide a criminal record certificate from the relevant government or police authority as part of our pre‑employment checks.
