Position Overview

Do you have strong people advisory skills, a proactive approach to problem‑solving, and a passion for supporting managers and colleagues? We’re looking for a People Advisor to join our team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract and play a key role in delivering a professional, people‑focused service across the organisation.


Working Pattern

This role operates on a hybrid working pattern (3 days in the office and 2 days from home). The successful candidate will be required to work from our Liverpool city centre office on Mondays, our St Helens office on Tuesdays, and a third day at one of our other office locations, in line with business needs.


What you’ll be doing:

* Managing a varied caseload of employee relations matters, providing expert advice to managers and colleagues
* Supporting performance management processes, including capability, development plans and use of data and systems
* Lead on attendance management, including absence monitoring, return‑to‑work meetings and long‑term cases
* Providing clear guidance on policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and best practice
* Build strong relationships with managers, acting as a trusted point of contact for people‑related advice and support
* Working collaboratively with Housing, Assets and Corporate teams to deliver a consistent HR service
* Supporting recruitment, retention, talent development and apprenticeship programmes across the organisation
* Contributing to People Strategy delivery, corporate initiatives and transformation projects
* Assisting in identifying learning needs and sourcing appropriate training solutions
* Maintaining accurate, confidential records, ensuring data integrity and audit compliance
* Working in partnership with trade unions to foster positive and productive relationships
* Promoting value for money through efficient processes and effective use of systems
* Ensure all activity aligned with health & safety, equality and safeguarding requirements


What we’re looking for:

* CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) or equivalent experience.
* Experience working in a People/HR advisory role, providing support across a range of employee relations matters.
* Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
* Experience supporting managers with performance management, absence and conduct issues.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
* Ability to manage a varied workload, prioritising effectively to meet deadlines.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with experience maintaining accurate records.
* Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders, including trade unions (desirable).
* Understanding of apprenticeship programmes and talent development (desirable).
* High levels of IT literacy and confidence using HR systems.
* A proactive, resilient and customer‑focused approach.
* A commitment to health and safety, equality, and excellent service delivery.
