Job Description

We are looking for an experienced leader to manage new teams dedicated to improving water company regulation. The team will work with individual water companies and collaborate with national and local colleagues.
You should have substantial relevant experience in the water industry, gained through operational or regulatory roles. Your responsibilities will include providing strategic direction, ensuring effective regulation, and managing a department of regulatory teams led by team leaders and officers with diverse skills.
You will lead resource deployment to achieve environmental outcomes, develop regulatory strategies, and advise senior management. The role requires building external relationships with partners and water company leaders, understanding environmental pressures, and influencing stakeholder decisions.
The team you will join reports to the Deputy Director and contributes to strategic planning and regulation delivery. Flexibility in work location (Penrith, Preston, Warrington) and some travel are expected.
Experience/Skills Required
* A degree in an environmental discipline or equivalent experience
* Strong strategic mindset and ability to align initiatives with environmental goals
* Leadership and influencing skills with a customer focus
* High-level advice and judgment on regulatory activities
* Knowledge of environmental pressures affecting the water sector
* Effective communication and negotiation skills
* Emotional intelligence and relationship-building abilities
* A positive attitude
