We Are Looking For

The Customs Administrator is responsible for ensuring all import and export activities comply with international trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate documentation, monitoring shipments, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth customs clearance. The Customs Administrator will work closely with supply chain, logistics, and compliance teams to uphold regulatory standards, minimize delays, and optimize customs procedures for efficiency and accuracy.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

1. Ensure all import and export transactions comply with company policies, customs regulations, and trade compliance laws
2. Prepare, review, and maintain accurate customs documentation, including invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and customs declarations
3. Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and regulatory agencies to facilitate timely clearance of shipments
4. Monitor and track international shipments to ensure compliance with country-specific regulations and timely delivery
5. Act as the primary point of contact for customs-related inquiries, providing guidance to internal teams on regulatory requirements
6. Develop and maintain customs compliance programs to align with international trade laws and internal policies
7. Review and assess import/export classifications (HTS, ECCN) and trade documentation to ensure accuracy and minimize duty exposure
8. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to stay updated on evolving customs regulations and their impact on business operations
9. Provide regular compliance reports and updates to leadership on customs processes, potential risks, and areas for improvement
10. Assist in developing training materials and conducting internal training on customs compliance requirements
11. Conduct periodic audits to identify potential compliance gaps and implement corrective measures
12. Stay informed of any changes in global trade policies, tariffs, and trade agreements that may impact business operations
13. Build and maintain relationships with customs authorities, brokers, and trade organizations to ensure smooth operations and compliance
14. Support logistics and procurement teams in managing duty drawbacks, bonded shipments, and free trade agreements to optimize cost savings

What You Bring (Qualifications & Skills):

15. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, or a related field (Advanced certifications in Customs Compliance or International Trade are a plus)
16. Proven experience in customs administration, import/export compliance, or logistics, with a solid understanding of global trade regulations
17. Previous experience in industries such as aerospace, manufacturing, or supply chain logistics is highly desirable
18. In-depth understanding of international trade laws, customs regulations, and import/export procedures
19. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination with customs authorities and internal teams
20. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage complex customs documentation
21. Ability to identify compliance risks and implement corrective actions proactively
22. Experience with customs management systems, trade compliance software, or ERP tools (, SAP, Oracle, Descartes, etc.)
23. Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on efficiency and compliance
24. Ability to work cross-functionally with legal, logistics, and supply chain teams to resolve customs issues
25. Strong time management skills to handle multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously
26. Willingness to travel as needed to engage with customs authorities and trade partners
