My client is seeking a skilled Overhead Lines Estimator / Senior Estimator to strengthen their growing Transmission OHL division. This role will focus on pre-construction and estimating activities, supporting the expansion of their overhead line portfolio across the UK.
You'll have the flexibility to be based out of one of their regional offices, with projects covering Scotland, England and Wales. Current and upcoming schemes range from wood pole networks up to 132kV through to steel tower projects from 33kV to 400kV, involving both refurbishment programmes and new build works.
As part of the Transmission team, you'll work closely with experienced delivery specialists, subcontractors and the wider supply chain to make sure tender submissions are clear, competitive and aligned with client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Analyse tender documentation and extract essential project information
Prepare compliant costings, ensuring all financial elements and design considerations are captured
Produce prelims in collaboration with subcontractors and internal teams
Visit sites where required and compile supporting reports
Develop and maintain the project risk register
Create accurate pricing submissions and tender documentation
Carry out drawing take-offs and provide cost breakdowns
Support post-tender discussions and financial negotiations
Assess commercial risks and opportunities during the bid process
Approve cost elements before financial sign-offs and gateway reviews
Manage accurate and timely cost information for senior leadership
Respond to tender clarifications and customer queries effectively
Lead the commercial handover process with Project Kick-Off documentation
Ensure smooth transfer of bid information to the project delivery team
Report on tender status weekly to the Transmission leadership team
Assist in preparing tender programmes, deliverables and presentations
Build long-term relationships with client procurement teams and supply chain partners
