Dornoch Firth Restoration Officer Flexible/remote working in Tain, Scotland About Us We are a leading UK environmental charity dedicated to protecting our ocean - defending crucial habitats, regenerating vital ecosystems and inspiring volunteers. We unite communities, governments, and industry, and champion science-based solutions for cleaner, healthier seas to tackle the climate and nature emergency. We are a founding partner of the Dornoch Environmental Enhancement Project (DEEP), which is helping to bring native oysters back to the Dornoch Firth. This innovative, award-winning project is transforming a protected marine habitat, restoring biodiversity and improving water quality in a truly pioneering way. We are currently looking for a Dornoch Firth Restoration Officer to join us on a part-time basis, working 21 hours per week. Please note, this role is for a four-month fixed-term contract, starting on 1st June 2026 and ending on 30th September 2026. You’ll bring environmental education, outreach or community engagement experience, as well as expertise in outdoor events and marine or environmental issues, to a role where you’ll be restoring and protecting vital coastal ecosystems. What’s more, with a part-time commitment of just 21 hours per week, you’ll have the flexibility to balance meaningful work with your personal commitments, making it ideal for enacting real change without the full-time schedule. The Role As the Dornoch Firth Restoration Officer, you will deliver engaging outreach, education and volunteer activities that support marine conservation across Moray Firth. Specifically, you will bring our mission to life by delivering inspiring education sessions, citizen science activities and community events, helping schools, local groups, and the wider public connect with and protect their local marine environment. You will also play a key role in sharing the story of the Dornoch Environmental Enhancement Project (DEEP), spending time at Glenmorangie Distillery to deliver engaging talks and presentations, acting as a knowledgeable and approachable ambassador for the project. Additionally, you will: Attend local events, community fairs and outreach activities Maintain high-quality displays and information materials at engagement sites Build strong relationships with local stakeholders, partners and community groups Contribute content for communications, including social media and newsletters About You To be considered as the Dornoch Firth Restoration Officer, you will need: Experience delivering environmental education, outreach or community engagement activities Experience organising and delivering practical outdoor events (e.g. beach cleans) Experience creating and delivering presentations to a range of audiences, including young people Experience working collaboratively with partners and stakeholders Knowledge of marine or environmental issues (or a relevant degree in a related subject) A full, valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle This role will have online and occasional in-person delivery to adults and young people and is therefore subject to an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Check.
