Senior Rotational Clinical Pharmacist

About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated individuals to join our team as a Senior Rotational Clinical Pharmacist. If you are ambitious and forward‑thinking, you will enhance clinical expertise while developing management skills in one of South West London’s largest teaching hospitals. As an Acute Trust, you will work across a diverse range of medical conditions, including the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre and the dedicated paediatric hospital at St Helier.
Main duties of the job
- Work across critical care, paediatrics, surgery and a variety of medical specialties.
- Perform ward‑based tasks, chart reviews, clinical interventions and optimise medication regimens.
- Provide patient education on medications and screen discharge prescriptions.
- Support junior or trainee pharmacists.
- Lead audits and drive quality improvement initiatives.
- Deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical service during 6‑month rotations, aiming for expert level knowledge.
- Develop managerial skills and expertise as per agreed objectives.
- Participate in seven‑day working and on‑call rotas as required.
The role is full‑time (37.5 hours per week). Flexibility is available for part‑time, job‑share or other flexible working arrangements.
Qualifications
- Essential:
- General Pharmaceutical Council registration.
- Certificate in clinical pharmacy – at least 12 months completed and working towards 18 months.
- Desirable:
- MSc in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or equivalent (including management training).
- Full diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent.
- Management training.
Experience
- Essential:
- Post‑registration UK hospital experience.
- Experience providing services to a broad variety of patients.
- Evidence of good clinical knowledge and skills.
- Desirable:
- Management of staff / staff appraisal experience.
Skills
- Essential:
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Good organisational skills, self and others.
- Ability to motivate self and others.
- Experience with drug usage review, evaluation and audit.
- Desirable:
- Clinical governance and risk management.
- Experience contributing to or leading the writing of trust guidelines, policies and procedures.

Salary
£55,524 to £62,652 per year (pro‑rata including Outer HCAS).
