Position: SEN Teacher (paid to scale) Location: Specialist residential school for children aged 8–19 Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8.30 am – 4.30 pm Salary: Teacher Pay Scale (M1–M6) About the School This charitable, child-centred school offers a warm and highly supportive environment for learners with profound autism, non-verbal communication needs and severe learning difficulties. Instead of traditional classrooms, learning happens through life skills, structured play, communication, sensory exploration and real-world experiences—while still meeting National Curriculum expectations and the National Minimum Standards for Children’s Homes. Role Overview As an SEN Teacher, you will take the lead for a small group of four to five children, supported by a committed team. You will: Plan and deliver a bespoke curriculum across the waking day, blending learning, care and life skills Develop and monitor Education & Care Plans, ensuring progress towards individual outcomes Lead and support your staff team, including rota oversight and ongoing coaching Work closely with therapists, behaviour specialists and care colleagues using positive behaviour support and a solution-focused approach Adapt the National Curriculum so it aligns with our meaningful, experience-based learning model About You You will thrive in this role if you are: Experienced in working with children with severe learning difficulties, autism and behaviours that challenge Compassionate, calm and committed to positive behaviour support (training such as PROACT-SCIPr-UK® can be provided) Skilled at differentiating the curriculum for highly individualised needs Creative, flexible and excited to teach outside the boundaries of a traditional classroom Motivated to lead a small team and uphold high standards of education and care Benefits As part of a charity that values its staff, you will receive: Funded qualifications and strong opportunities for career development Free meals during your working day and on-site parking A genuinely impactful role where you help transform children’s daily experiences and prepare them for adult life Key Requirements Right to work in the UK Enhanced DBS check Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children If you are a passionate teacher looking for a role with purpose, creativity and the chance to make a life-changing difference, we’d love to hear from you.
