Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technician (Shift Electrician) at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust to join our busy Estates & Facilities Management Team. The day technician is employed to work across both engineering disciplines. They will have been trained wider than their core skill and acquired elements of both Electrical and Mechanical skills, reaching a level of flexibility and competence to perform various duties including general maintenance and installation on complex systems forming part of the site infrastructure.

Main duties of the job
* Carry out specialist installations and repairs on power, lighting, nurse call, fire alarms, and intruder alarms, including programming and passing operational instructions to ward or department staff.
* Activate power changeover plant and safely isolate from generators or local network in case of malfunction.
* Work on inverter drives and soft start systems.
* Work safely on standby electrical systems such as 400V generators and UPS systems.
* Work on Door Access and Security Tagging systems throughout the Trust site.
* Design and carry out electrical installation work and diagnose and repair faults on these systems according to BS7671.

Job Responsibilities
* Test, diagnose, and repair faults on engineering, electrical, and plumbing installations, plant, and equipment.
* Understand mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within NHS buildings.
* Instruct others and perform repairs, maintenance, and efficient operation of plant and equipment.
* Use relevant tools and participate in learning new procedures and technologies.
* Perform PPM maintenance and other duties as delegated by team leaders.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Recognized and registered EITB, City & Guilds qualification or equivalent.
* BTEC ONC or equivalent.
Desirable qualifications include First Aid, Health and Safety training, and registration with approved organizations such as UK Register of Electricians, JIB Schemes, Gas Safe.
Experience
* Experience in a similar role in a commercial or industrial building services environment.
Desirable experience includes working in an Acute Healthcare environment.
