About The Role
We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to be based from our Stirling depot. This role will cover the North West of Scotland. The focus of this role is to ensure we deliver a first‑class service to both internal and external customers, actively seek revenue opportunities, and discuss these with customers, Customer Support Representatives, and your Line Manager.
What You'll Be Doing
* Service and repair Volvo construction equipment or miscellaneous equipment.
* Identify mechanical problems using technical knowledge and computerized diagnostic equipment, offering guidance and advice to the customer.
* Carry out duties in a commercially focused way, seeking additional service revenue opportunities and promoting our aftermarket solutions.
* Work in line with quotations and time guides, highlighting to management where additional work may be required.
* Ensure software updates are installed when new versions are released.
* Complete tablet inputs, electronic reports and timesheets in real time providing comprehensive details of the work undertaken.
* Order parts for your work as necessary and return parts in a clean condition and at the time of job completion.
* Be able to work overtime as and when required and honour reasonable call‑out requests.
* Attend relevant product or systems training courses.
What You'll Bring
* A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural / HGV mechanics or related discipline (e.g. NVQ 3/C&G).
* Relevant experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction plant, including proven technical competence on diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics and electrics.
* Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and comprehensive understanding of hydraulics, electrics and EATS.
* Ability to communicate efficiently with colleagues, management and customers.
* Work with a cost‑conscious mindset to ensure maximum profitability.
* Ability to problem‑solve and a high level of diagnostic skills.
* Confidence in using computer systems and Outlook.
* High levels of attention to detail.
* Conscientious in all aspects of the job.
* Highly responsible, reliable, honest and trustworthy.
* Ability to understand technical literature/systems.
Desirable
* Experience of welding and fabrication.
