Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a HV Charging Engineer to be based at our customers site in Gaydon. Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions. The Role: The Charging Attribute Team is responsible for Charging Performance (charge time) and Charging Feature (customer experience of charging). The Charging Attributes Team will cascade global Voice of the Customer targets, requirements and their test cases to Powerpack (Systems Integration), High Voltage Charging Conductive Path and Charging System Design Teams. The HV Charging System is key in our businesses electrification strategy. The High Voltage Charging teams (system design and conductive path) is responsible for the design and advanced development &/or selection of charging components with the guidance and direction from the Charging Attributes Team for our electrification programmes. The High Voltage Charging Features Engineer will be a key role in development of our future vehicles programs. The successful candidate will lead initial Ideas Phase followed by the process to design Charging Features involving the integration of multiple software and electronics hardware-based functions and be responsible for the process to conduct benchmarking, explore ideas, create Use Cases and Requirements to support integrating these functions into our High Voltage (HV) charging systems. These Requirements shall be supported by Test Plans, Executions and Cases. The role will involve development of all the requirements for specific HV Charging functions, reviewing the associated Failure Mode Avoidance material, including Functional Failure Analysis, functional safety deliverables, cyber security deliverables and testing of each function to ensure suitability for production. It will be necessary to discuss suitable software environments with suppliers to ensure our software can be integrated into supplier delivered code. A detailed understanding of High Voltage Charging Systems and its operation is needed in order to help design, review and refine our future High Voltage Charging Systems for their intended applications, ensuring their robustness and minimising cost. Area of Responsibility: The High Voltage Charging Features Engineer will lead the development of new technologies and standards, particularly Benchmarking new technologies and features supporting electrification of PHEV and BEV products Responsible for the requirements to support development of new charging system features and functions. Responsible for updating company standards in line with existing and upcoming international standards. Issuing Test Procedures to ensure any new/updated high voltage charging feature or function can be adequately tested. Responsible for the management of HV Charging System related software requirements, linked to the various software functions of the system Responsible for the rectification of software and hardware issues related to specific High Voltage Charging system issues. Accountable for the development of rigs to help with software testing, debugging and validation Taking logs (diagnostics) and using prognostics data to verify charging performance of features has been met on rigs and vehicles. Key Skills & Experience: Essential: Must have significant knowledge & practical experience of High Voltage Electronic Charging systems Must have significant knowledge & practical experience of the software development processes. Project management, Leadership and planning skills are essential, along with good teamwork and excellent writing and verbal communication skills.Strategic thinking is also essential. Significant experience of D&R, Quality processes including 8D, FMA process as well as requirements and standards writing. Desirable: Knowledge of CAN/CAN-FD communication protocols.
